Elevate explores how a simple floating roof can create a climatically comfortable and inviting space for community activities for all of Dallas’ residents. Public restrooms and showers occur underneath an urban forest parklet but still have access to daylight and views through light-shafts. Suspended above the street level a series of community gardens wrap the open community area allowing for moments of education and nourishment. Hanging from the roof structure, a series of vines fall around the perimeter to further bring nature to the city as well as help cool down the environment. Elevate provides a node within the city that brings different members of society together to foster discussion, education, public services and ultimately change.
